Building Resilience at Cereals 2026

Premium Crops, a division of Cefetra Ltd, returns to Cereals 2026 as a Registration Sponsor, reinforcing its position at the centre of progressive, profitable break crop strategies for UK growers.

Co-exhibiting with parent company Cefetra Ltd, the team will be based on Stand 942 (above the Spray Arena), showcasing a joined-up approach to seed, marketing and inputs—and, crucially, how these combine to improve resilience and margins on farm.

A renewed focus on profitable break crops

A key highlight on the stand will be Winter Linseed, a crop that has undergone a complete transformation in recent years.

Once considered difficult and inconsistent, modern winter linseed now offers:

  • Gross margins exceeding £750/ha
  • Significantly lower nitrogen requirements
  • Reliable, proven agronomy
  • A strong fit within modern arable rotations

Advances in varietal development, agronomy and crop management mean Winter Linseed is a predictable and manageable autumn-sown break crop, delivering consistent returns while reducing reliance on oilseed rape.

For growers reviewing rotation resilience and input costs, this represents a compelling opportunity—particularly alongside:

  • Reduced nitrogen inputs (around half that of OSR)
  • No cabbage stem flea beetle risk
  • Stronger returns than traditional alternatives such as oats and beans

Bringing crops to life in the field

Beyond static displays, the Premium Crops and Cefetra stand will focus on real-world performance, with crop plots and specialist expertise available throughout the event.

Visitors will be able to discuss:

  • Variety performance and suitability
  • Agronomic best practice
  • Contract production opportunities
  • Market outlooks and risk management strategies

Cefetra’s role as a trusted supply chain partner underpins this offering—connecting growers to end markets with transparent, flexible and tailored routes to market.

New varieties and growing opportunities

Alongside break crops, Cefetra will be highlighting new wheat varieties, including Pace and Sparkler, bringing fresh marketing potential for the season ahead.

The stand also reflects a broader collaborative approach, with new and existing partners adding value for growers:

  • Crop Marketing Group (CMG) – farmer-owned pooled grain marketing, offering shared insight and engagement with grain markets
  • SoilPoint – providing innovative soil conditioning products to support crop performance and input efficiency

Together, these partnerships demonstrate how integrated thinking—from soil to sale—can improve both profitability and resilience.

A ‘buzz’ around borage production

Adding something different to the stand this year, the Bee Farmers Association will be working alongside Premium Crops to spotlight the importance of pollination in borage production.

Visitors can expect:

  • A beehive suspended over the borage crop plot
  • Jars of borage honey available for attendees
  • Insight into how pollination directly impacts crop performance

While borage is capable of self-pollination, its flowering biology means yields are significantly enhanced by pollinators. Flowers are protandrous—pollen matures before the stigma—requiring transfer between flowers for optimal seed set.

Research has demonstrated:

  • Over 25% yield uplift with additional bee pollination
  • A requirement of two hives per hectare under Premium Crops contracts to ensure consistent performance

This integrated approach is central to Premium Crops’ offering, which includes contract production opportunities supported by technical guidance and end-market security.
